EV Charger Rebates & Incentives

Your utility would rather you charge at home overnight, and both LADWP and Southern California Edison run programs that reward it. Here is how the landscape works and how we help you capture it.

Know Your Utility First

Rebate eligibility starts with who sends your electric bill. Homes in the City of Los Angeles, including most of the San Fernando Valley, are served by LADWP. Santa Clarita, the Conejo and Simi Valleys, the South Bay, Long Beach, and the Gateway Cities are largely Southern California Edison territory. Glendale and Pasadena have their own municipal utilities with their own programs.

The Kinds Of Incentives Offered

  • Charger rebates that offset the hardware or installation cost of a qualifying level 2 charger
  • Panel and wiring incentives in some programs when electrical upgrades are needed for charging
  • Time of use rate plans that make overnight charging significantly cheaper per mile
  • State and federal incentives that stack with utility programs in some tax situations

Why Programs Change And What We Do

Utility programs open, fill up, and change requirements often, sometimes mid year. Rather than publish numbers that go stale, we check what is currently open for your address as part of your free EV charger quote, and we make sure the install is permitted and documented the way the programs require, since missing paperwork is the most common reason rebates get denied.

For current details straight from the source, check the LADWP and SCE websites, and ask us anything you find there. We keep up with both.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do rebates require a permit?
Almost always. Utility programs typically require a permitted, inspected installation by a licensed contractor, plus receipts and photos. Our installs are documented to satisfy them.
Are rebates available for renters?
Some programs cover renters with landlord approval, and time of use rates apply to whoever pays the bill. It varies by program, and we can point you to what applies.
Can I get a rebate on a NEMA 14-50 outlet?
Some programs cover only networked chargers, others cover charging circuits generally. It depends on the current program rules for your utility.
Is time of use worth switching to?
If you charge overnight, usually yes. Off peak rates make each mile cheaper, and we set your charger schedule to match when we commission it.
